ASSEMBLY

I highly recommend searching the internet for images of tatty teddy photos and illustrations before you begin to sew together the parts.

Sew the head to the body.

Stuff and sew the muzzle to the lower portion of the head. I recommend sewing the muzzle on almost entirely, then adding the stuffing (so the stuffing isn't in the way when you are sewing).

Sew the ears to the head.

Use black yarn to embroider the eyes. The eyes are embroidered quite close together, just above the muzzle.

Sew head patch to head.

Stitch nose on muzzle using light blue yarn or light blue embroidery thread, using the photos as a guide.

Embroider decorative stitching on head using black or dark brown yarn or embroidery thread.

Stuff and sew the legs to either side of the body.

Sew the foot patches to the feet. Embroider decorative stitching on feet using black or dark brown yarn or embroidery thread.

Lightly stuff arms (or don't add stuffing at all - I didn't add stuffing to mine because I didn't have stuffing on hand when I was finishing this project). Sew arms to either side of body.

Create 2 mini knitting needles from the dowel. (Optionally, apply a coat of glue to the mid-sections of the mini knitting needles to make it extra secure.) Wrap pink yarn around the mini knitting needles into a ball shape. Sew the arms to the ball of yarn with knitting needles, so that the bear appears to be holding them.

- stuffing

- poly-pellets (optional)

- yarn needle

ABBREVIATIONS

ch = chain

sl st = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

Dec = sc2tog or invisible decrease

st / sts = stitch / stitches

NOTES

Instead of crocheting the eyes, you may also use pieces of felt, if you choose (or if you simply don't have any black yarn available). Or, if you prefer, use 12mm (or even one 9mm eye and one 12mm eye for that "uneven" look that Kodama have) black safety eyes, place them off off-kilter and/or just omit the mouth altogether.

I did not add stuffing to the arms or legs.
